Nintendo has announced a new accessory for the Wii: the Wii MotionPlus. It’s basically a small gizmo you plug into the Wiimote wich enables it to do full 3D motion tracking, thus greatly enhancing its accuracy. According to Nintendo, this will translate into 1:1 tracking on the screen, wich should make, for example, real swordfighting possible.

If this works as it should, Nintendo has to do only one more thing: make some decent games! I was very excited about the Wii when it originally came out, but apart from a few killer games (Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, …) all that’s been developed for it are remakes of the same old games Nintendo has been making for the last 20 years and childish collections of mini games.
