When the iPhone 3G was announced, everyone hoped it would be possible to connect it to a laptop and use it as a 3G modem. Would have been nice, except it’s not possible, at least out of the box. Thanks to some creative hackers, you can make it work, however! It requires you to hack the phone, install some software on it and set up a wireless network to make it connect to your laptop. Creations has an extensive tutorial on how to do it.
Of course, you could always go for a better, cheaper smartphone with 3G capabilities that will connect to a laptop without any tricks and hacks and that don’t require you to sell your soul to Steve Jobs.
