This may come as a shock to some people, but the iPhone isn’t the only smartphone with a touch screen! Samsung’s new phone, the Instinct, also has full touch screen functionality. Gadget Reviews has compared it to the iPhone. Here’s a short summary of the comparison:
- Design; No real winner, purely a matter of taste.
- Display; The iPhone has a multi-touch display, while the Instinct has a haptic display wich makes virtual buttons feel more like real buttons. Gadget Reviews decides in favor of the iPhone
- Internal hardware; Quite significant differences. The Instinct can record video (wich the iPhone still can’t) and has much more accurate GPS. Also, it has an SD card slot and a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. The iPhone has a special headphone jack and no expandable memory, but already comes with 8 or 16 gigs of storage. No real winner here
- Software; For multimedia use, they are comparable. For web browsing, the iPhone is clearly the winner because of the Safari browser, where the Instinct has a proprietary browser. Since you can’t install other software on it (it’s not a Windows Mobile phone!) there’s nothing you can do about it
