Audiophiles sometimes spend insane amounts of money on overhyped crap that simply doesn’t do anything to improve sound quality. While I can understand that a $5000 speaker will sound better than $100 speaker, this is simply too ridiculous to be true: an ethernet cable that costs $499!
This cable, made by Denon, is a mere 1.5 meters long and is claimed to be designed with the audio enthousiast in mind, and will “bring out all nuances in digital audio reproductions”. And that, my friends, is a gigantic load of crap! Unlike an analog audio signal, digital signals are very resistant to interference. This cable won’t make it sound any better, plus it probably contains only a few bucks worth of materials. Anyone who is willing to spend this kind of money on a freaking cable deserves to be shot in the face with a sawn-off shotgun.
A while ago, magician and skeptic James Randi offered a $1000000 prize to anyone who could prove an insanely expensive speaker cable sounded better than a moderately priced one, without result of course. This isn’t any different.
