Solid state drives have been around for a few years but because of their enormous price tags their use has always been limited to high end users. Perhaps this will change soon, because Samsung has announced it will start mass producing and marketing their new 256 gigabyte SSD. As a 2.5″ drive, it’s perfect for laptops, and a 1.8″ version is also announced, wich would be a good storage medium for small portable devices.
