Ultra-tiny HP laptop

By admin | Apr 26, 2008

Tiny laptops seem to be the newest hype. There’s the Asus EEE PC, and of course the way too expensive Macbook Air. HP has jumped on the bandwagon and here’s the result: the HP Mini-Note.
Here are some of the specs. It has a 1.2 ghz VIA C7 CPU, 1 gigabyte of ram and a 120 gigabyte harddrive. The 8.9″ display has a resolution of 1280×768, wich is quite impressive for such a small display. The keyboard is 92% of the standard size, so typing is still quite comfortable. Wifi and bluethooth, a VGA webcam and memory card reader are available.
The computer comes with Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop. A version with Windows Vista is available, but costs $300 more. I wouldn’t recommend getting the Windows version, because the specs don’t seem to be very Windows-friendly. Of course, you can always install your own OS on it, but keep in mind HP doesn’t supply Windows XP drivers.
