Wireless networks are a great invention, as long as they work. In my appartment, it barely works. I use a powerline network adapter, wich is ok since I use a desktop PC, but if you have a laptop and absolutely need wifi there are various solutions. And here’s one of them!
It’s quite simple. Instead of sending a signal in all direction, you focus it into a beam with a dish antenna. You need to aim the dish at your router, but the signal is enhanced seriously so your range should increase considerably. It’s connected to a USB port like any other Wifi adapter.
