Have you ever tried to build a PC? I haven’t, because it’s barely cheaper and some things are not as easy to install as you may think (such as a CPU cooler). Anyway, that shouldn’t discourage real enthousiasts, of course. If you want to give it a try, Easy As My PC is a good choice. They sell DIY PC kits, with all the parts you need to get started!
They sell three computer kits: a basic kit, a business kit and a gaming kit. Alls kits include every part to build the computer itself, a fully illustrated assembly guide and a keyboard and mouse. You can choose Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows Vista Home Premium for operating system. Too bad you can’t choose Linux or simply no OS. You can also choose wether or not to include a monitor (up to 20″ wide screen is available) and upgrade the standard graphics card. Finally, you can add a second optical drive, a card reader and a modem (like anyone still uses these things).
All kits come with full manufacturer warranties, and ground shipping is free. Since I assume they operate from the United States, this probably only applies to the US and perhaps Canada.
