Genius. Pure genius! That’s what I thought when I first saw this. Everybody probably knows you can’t boil eggs in a microwave oven. They will explode and you end up with an oven full of goo. This gadget, however, makes it possible! And on top of that, it also comes with a tool to cut perfect ’soldiers’, or strips of toast to dip in the yolk.
How does it work? You place an egg in Boiley the Microwave Egg (the thing that looks like a chicken), fill the base with water, close it and place it in the oven. Instead of microwaving the egg directly, you heat the water that now surrounds the egg, boiling it to perfection! Faster, easier and a lot more energy-efficient than boiling in a pot of water!
The soldier cutter works by stamping perforations in a slice of bread. You then toast it like you’re used to and when it’s ready, you can break off perfectly shaped soldiers. Not only are they the perfect shape and size, they also don’t crumble on the edges, since they have been toasted too!
Cooking times range from 3 minutes for soft boiled to 5 minutes for hard boiled, but this may depend on the power and the type of oven you have. Some experimentation may be necessary to get it perfect.
