Radio-controlled helicopters are known to be expensive, complicated and difficult as hell to fly. The PicoZ Helicopter, however, is an IR-controlled helicopter that’s small and stable enough to fly indoors! It’s only 17 cm long, weighs 10 grams and is made of polypropylene foam that’s strong enough to take some beatings. It’s powered by a lightweight lithium ion battery that’s recharged by connecting it to the IR remote control. A 30 minute charge is enough for 10 minutes of flying.
The IR control has a range of approximately 10 meters, more than enough for indoor flight. Flying it outdoors is not exactly recommended because with such a light weight it’s very sensitive to wind. The helicopter is available in three different channels, so you can fly up to three at once without interference. Since the rotor is quite fragile, you get three spare rotors with the helicopter.
