Useless iPod Acessories

By admin | Apr 21, 2007

TechEBlog has made a list of the five most useless iPod accessories. In a previous post I mentioned there are thousands of iPod accessories and the iPhone will soon follow. Of course, not all of them can be useful and some of them can even be classified as the most useless junk ever created! Anyway, here’s the list, with my opinion of each item.

  1. Viewsonic Viewdock Display; It’s an LCD TV with a built-in iPod dock. A loose iPod dock is a cheaper and easier solution, and you can connect it to a stereo or another tv.
  2. Elecom’s “Emergency” iPod Charger; Is is that difficult to keep your iPod charged, and does an empty battery really qualify as an “emergency”?
  3. Levi’s RedWire DLX iPod Jeans; A pair of jeans with a built-in iPod dock and remote control. Yes, a “remote” control that sits only centimeters away from the pocket where you probably keep your iPod, now that’s something we really need!
  4. The iBrella; This has a huge “WTF?” factor. It’s an umbrella that’s also an iPod interface. How does it work? Shaking it picks a random song, opening and closing it starts and stops songs. Really, no joke!
  5. iBreath; Ironically, this seems like the most usefull accessory in the list! It’s a breath analyser to check your blood alcohol level.
